Samsung has officially outed its next Exynos processor, the Exynos 4 Quad, which as the name suggests will be sporting 4 processor cores. Samsung describes it as “the perfect choice for your next-generation, cutting-edge Smartphone and Tablet PC products”, and since their next cutting-edge smartphone is probably going to be the Galaxy S3, to be announced on May 3 in their Unpacked 2012 event in London, we’d say it’s a safe bet that it will be powered by the Exynos 4 Quad.

The Exynos 4 Quad is based on ARM’s Cortex A9 architecture and is built on a 32 nm HKMG (High-K Metal Gate) manufacturing process, boasting twice the CPU performance while consuming 20% less power than the previous dual-core Exynos generation built on a 45 nm process. There is no mention of the graphics chip accompanying the processor, but it’ll probably be the Mali-400 like the previous Exynos generation.
