Enable DT2W (Double Tap to Wake) on any Huawei Honor Device via TWRP Recovery

Double Tap to Wake (DT2W) is one of the most celebrated feature on Android devices. The stock Android from Google that comes on Nexus devices, however, doesn’t support DT2W. But there are a number of Android manufacturers who have adopted DT2W to their devices.

Huawei has DT2W supported on many of its devices, but it’s just dorment. For god knows reasons, the manufacturer has chosen to keep DT2W disabled on a majority of its devices.

But thanks to PaulOBrien from Modaco, who shared a recovery flashable zip file for Huawei Honor devices to enable Double Tap to Wake on devices which have supported kernel installed.

You’ll need a custom recovery like TWRP installed on your Huawei Honor device to flash the DT2W enabler zip file by PaulOBrien. You can get official TWRP recovery images from TeamWin’s official website.

Download DT2W Enabler for Huawei Honor devices

  1. Download and transfer the DT2W enabler .zip file to your Huawei Honor device.
  2. Boot your device into TWRP recovery.
  3. Install/Flash the DT2W enabler .zip file from TWRP install menu.
  4. Once installed, reboot device to system.
  5. Once device is booted, go to Settings » Motion control (under Smart assistance) » select Double touch and turn it On.
  6. Try Double Tap to Wake: Lock the screen and then double tap on screen.
    1. If it wakes: Then it means your device’s kernel supports DT2W. Enjoy!
    2. If it doesn’t wakes: Then your device’s kernel doesn’t support DT2W. Sorry!

That’s all. Happy Androiding!
