Update: It turns out this wasn’t a stable release of Android Pie, rather it was the first beta update.
[Original post]: Well, color us surprised! Huawei is already rolling out the Android 9 update for Honor Play at least in one country, Poland. Based on EMUI 9, we knew that a beta version of Huawei’s Android Pie update was available for beta testers in China, but we really didn’t expect Huawei to bring the Pie update to Europe this soon.
Did we tell you this is a stable Android 9 Pie update, not a beta version? Yes, this is incredibly fast from Huawei — take a note, Samsung!
The OTA update carrying Android Pie OS upgrade comes as software version 9.0.0.302 (or B302). The full build no. of the Pie update is C432E302R1P8. It’s clear from the build no. that the update is available only for the Honor Play handsets whose Custom version is C432. The update is available in Poland already but it remains to be seen whether it’s available in Europe or not.

If you own an Honor Play smartphone whose Custom version is C432 (or C432E3, required maybe), then your device may already be eligible for the Android 9 update. Find your Honor Play’s custom version here: Settings app > System > About phone, scroll down and check the Custom version.
You can check for the latest update available for your Honor Play here: Settings app > System > System update, tap on ‘Check for updates’ button at the bottom of the screen.
Honor Play is easily one of the best Honor phones with robust specs and decent design, while is why it’s probably the best budget phone under the $300 price segment too. The device rocks a Kirin 970 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and that makes it a good gaming phone to have if you are not fixated on a glass-back phone.
Thanks, Ashish!
