Echofon Alpha Android APK and install it manually

Echofon has been around for some time now on iOS, as an excellent 3rd party alternative to the native Twitter app for iOS. Given the meteoric rise in the Android-user population in recent times, Echofon thought it would be a good idea to develop a version of the Echofon client for Android devices.

Echofon has been working on an Alpha build for an Android app for a while now, and has released it over the weekend through their Twitter account. While still an Alpha, which means it is a relatively early build, it is evident from the screenshots above, that it seems to have adhered to Google’s app design guidelines. The interface is nicely Holo-themed, and blends in nicely with the stock Android 4.0 or 4.1 UI. The app itself offers two theme choices, light and dark. The interface is pleasing, and swiping between tabs is a smooth affair.

Additional features include multi-account support which is in the pipeline, push notifications which work with the Android 4.1 notification bar and multiple image hosting sites to choose from. The only downside noticed so far, is that full conversations cannot be viewed, as yet.

The app works pretty well, considering it is still an Alpha, and further updates will only make it better, and add new improvements and enhancements, to what definitely looks like a strong contender in the long list of Twitter clients for Android, and even the recently updated official Twitter client for Android.
