Google has rolled out a new feature for Chrome on Android devices, allowing users to color code their Tab Groups. This update aims to enhance tab organization and management for mobile users.
Tab Groups, a feature that lets users bundle related tabs together, has been available on Chrome for Android for some time.
By default Chrome automatically picks a color for the group. But now, you’ll be able assign from one of the 9 colors – blue, red, yellow, green, pink, purple, cyan, orange, and gray – to these groups, making it easier to visually distinguish between different sets of tabs.
How to Use Color-Coding for Tab Groups
Here’s how to use this new feature:
- Open Chrome on your Android device and tap on the Tabs icon in the top right corner.
- Create a new Tab Group by tapping on the three-dot icon, selecting the tabs, tapping on the three-dot icon again and selecting Group tabs. Alternatively, select an existing tab group.
- In the group, tap on the three-dot icon and select Edit group color.
- Choose your desired color from the available options
This new color-coding feature is rolling out to users worldwide and should become available to you via a server side update.
If you don’t see the feature, you can enable it using the the following two flag:
- chrome://flags/#tab-group-sync-android
- chrome://flags/#tab-group-pane-android
By allowing users to visually organize their tabs, Chrome aims to make it easier for people to manage multiple web pages on smaller screens.
