Chinon Swift 7 tablet Unveiled

Chinon USA  announced a new Android tablet yesterday-The Swift 7. Aggressively priced at $159.99, which happens to be $40 less than the Kindle Fire, Chinon clearly seems to be targeting the budget-conscious buyer on the lookout for an Android slate. The Swift 7 features a Cortex A8 chip clocked at 1.2 GHz, upto 32 GB of expandable memory through microSD, and runs Android 2.3 or Gingerbread.Given the fact that newer tablets are coming out with Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, and even older ones came with Honeycomb or Android 3.0, Gingerbread does seem to be a disappointing choice.

The Swift 7 also packs a 800 x 600 LCD display, with a 4:3 aspect ratio, again, not the best setup for watching movies on the move, 4 GB of internal storage, 512 MB RAM, which we really wish could have been higher given the 1.2 GHz processor chip. It also features front and rear cameras, both at 2 MP.

Though targeted at the budget slate market, there seem to be quite a few contenders with better specs. Personally, I feel the only thing that could attract a potential buyer, would just be the price point, and not much else. But then, who can predict buyer behavior, right?
