After beating Zoe at the Rayne Syndicate Tower, recruit Zoe & Grizzbolt through her Desolate Church questline, catch a normal Grizzbolt at the No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary, and optionally capture solo Zoe afterward with Mercy gear.
Searching “how to catch Zoe and Grizzbolt” actually mashes together three separate rewards, and mixing them up is how players end up frustrated. There’s the wild Grizzbolt you sphere in the field, the rideable Zoe & Grizzbolt duo you earn from a quest chain, and Zoe herself as an optional human catch. Here’s how to sort out which one you’re after and lock in all three.
Three different Zoe rewards, and which to chase
| Target | How to get it |
|---|---|
| Grizzbolt (Electric-type Pal) | Catch it wild at No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary |
| Zoe & Grizzbolt (rideable duo) | Finish Zoe’s Desolate Church questline |
| Zoe (solo human) | Optional — weaken with Mercy gear, then sphere her |
The wording hides three genuinely different targets. Grizzbolt is a normal Electric-type Pal you catch in the wild — it’s also the one Zoe’s quest makes you fetch. Zoe & Grizzbolt is the special rideable duo that only comes from finishing her questline; it’s effectively a mountable Grizzbolt with Zoe riding along. And then there’s solo Zoe, the human leader, who you can optionally throw a sphere at once the story wraps up.
Key Sort out which one you want before you start, because the quest and the catches feed into each other.
Do the whole questline before trying to catch solo Zoe — recruiting the duo first means a failed capture attempt on Zoe can’t cost you the rideable Zoe & Grizzbolt.
Before you start Zoe’s questline

The one hard gate is the Rayne Syndicate Tower in the Windswept Hills — you have to clear it before any of this opens up. Once Zoe and Grizzbolt are beaten there, Zoe relocates to the Desolate Church, which sits a short trip from the starting area, so this whole chain is doable very early.
How to recruit Zoe & Grizzbolt in Palworld
Zoe hands out a three-part quest chain from the Desolate Church, and finishing it drops the rideable Zoe & Grizzbolt straight into your party.
Clear the Rayne Syndicate Tower

Beat Zoe and Grizzbolt at their tower in the Windswept Hills to open up her questline.
Fast-travel to the Desolate Church

Zoe moves here after the tower fight, only a short hop from the starting zone.
Talk to Zoe for "Don’t Get Cocky"

She tasks you with catching a wild Grizzbolt and bringing it back to show her.
Head south to No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary

The Grizzbolt you need spawns on the sanctuary island directly south of the church.
Catch the wild Grizzbolt

Grab the sanctuary Grizzbolt and keep it — the full catch route is in the next section.
Return to the Desolate Church

Fast-travel back to Zoe to turn in the quest and pick up the next one.
Wipe out five Free Pal Alliance members

Take "I Still Don’t Trust You" and clear five members by the Free Pal Alliance Tower just north.
Report back for "A Warm Memory"

Return to Zoe and she marks the final quest north of the Chillet boss fight.
Collect Zoe’s Tattered Memento

Grab it from the castle ruins on the shore below the bridge, at roughly (174, -355).
Give Zoe the memento

Hand it over at the church and she joins your party as the rideable Zoe & Grizzbolt.
Catching the level 30 Grizzbolt at No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary
The Grizzbolt catch is where most runs stall, so it’s worth treating the sanctuary approach as its own mini-mission.
- Head south for a level 30 fight — Grizzbolt is a level 30 encounter, so bring a sturdy team before you make the trip.
- Pack a high-tier Pal Sphere — An end-game sphere gives at least a 30% catch chance, which makes this far less painful.
- Run straight through the outer walls — The sanctuary walls look solid but don’t actually block you — push right into the cave.
- Follow the tunnel to the opening — Keep running through the cave until it opens out toward the beach where Grizzbolt roams.
- Turn near (92, -697) — Near roughly (92, -697), take a right to reach Grizzbolt.
- Weaken it and throw your sphere — Knock its HP down, then throw when the catch icon turns favorable to bag the Grizzbolt.
Capturing solo Zoe with Mercy gear (optional)
If you also want Zoe herself as a standalone Pal, you can try catching her after the questline — though this one is inconsistent.
- Equip Mercy Hit — Mercy Hit stops your hits from killing Zoe, so you can drop her without ending the fight.
- Weaken Zoe without killing her — Chip her health down; if she’s gone, wait about 24 in-game hours (sometimes just a few minutes) for her to reset.
- Throw a Pal Sphere — With Mercy Gloves on, sphere her once she’s low to add solo Zoe to your Pals.
- Expect a fight and a Wanted tag — She hits back with a pink assault rifle, and the attempt can flag you as Wanted — easy enough to shrug off.
This one is contested — some players find Zoe simply can’t be sphere-caught in the current build, so treat solo Zoe as an optional experiment rather than a guaranteed pickup.

What Zoe & Grizzbolt bring to your team
The duo’s real draw is the Yellow Tank partner skill: strap on the saddle and you can ride Zoe & Grizzbolt while firing their minigun at anything you’d rather not fight up close. They’re big, so squeezing through some doorways is genuinely awkward, but the mobility more than makes up for it — with triple jumps they get around fast, and the minigun does respectable mid-game damage.
Run them through a Pal Operating Table and you can transfer in whatever passives you like; stacking movement passives such as Swift and Runner turns them into a seriously quick mount. And if you went for solo Zoe, she can even eat Skill Fruit — feed her a Dark Skill Fruit: Apocalypse and the level 15 human will actually cast it, which is as ridiculous as it sounds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you catch Zoe & Grizzbolt during the Rayne Syndicate Tower boss fight?
No. Early on, players found a glitch that let them sphere the duo mid-tower, but it was patched out, and you can’t throw Pal Spheres inside a tower arena at all now. The only legitimate way to get the rideable Zoe & Grizzbolt is finishing her Desolate Church questline.
What should you do if Zoe isn’t at the Desolate Church?
First make sure you’ve actually cleared the Rayne Syndicate Tower — she only relocates to the church once it’s done. If you beat the tower and she’s still missing, or you accidentally knocked her out, NPCs take 24 in-game hours to respawn, so rest or play on and check back.
Do you need to keep Grizzbolt summoned when turning in “Don’t Get Cocky”?
Yes. Zoe needs to see the Grizzbolt out on the field, so summon it before you talk to her at the church — walking up with Grizzbolt sitting in your Pal Box won’t complete the turn-in.
