BlackBerry KEYone begins Android Oreo beta testing ahead of release

BlackBerry KEYone

Earlier this month, Canada’s Rogers reported that the BlackBerry KEYone would begin receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update on July 5, however, a quick look at the same page that gave us this information, the official Rogers community forums, reveals that this date has been changed to “delayed.”

While we have no idea what caused the delay, it appears TCL has other ideas, perhaps what was needed in the first place. The company has opened invitations to Android Oreo beta program for BlackBerry KEYone owners, but there’s a catch.

In order to get your BlackBerry KEYone into the Oreo beta program, you must be invited. To get this invitation, you, first of all, must sign up for the BlackBerry beta program that’s hosted by Centercode, after which you’ll be added to the list of people that may be invited into the program.

At this rate, though, it’s unlikely that the KEYone will be updated to Android P, but of course, the KEY2 will get this update, although the wait might be on for another year.
