The full evolution chain and the 5-minute claim

Becoming an Arrancar means grinding a single Hollow all the way up the ladder. You start as a basic Hollow (Fishbone), hit level 7 to turn into Menos, clear Primal Urges pt. 1 to reach Adjuchas, then farm 70 points and four Hollow traits to unlock Vasto Lorde. Only then do you rip off your mask to become an Arrancar/Vastocar.

Menos requirements to unlock Adjuchas

Keep running Hollow missions until you hit level 7, which flips you into Menos. From here the gate to Adjuchas is Primal Urges pt. 1, and it’s the simplest checkpoint in the whole chain — smash 60 valid objects and kill 8 Hollows.

The catch is what actually counts. Trees and pillars tick the counter up, but bamboo and houses do not. If your object count is stalling, you’re almost certainly swinging at the wrong scenery.

Farming 70 points from Adjuchas to Vasto Lorde

This is where most runs slow to a crawl. As Adjuchas your only job is 70 progression points, and not every kill is worth the same. Stop doing missions here — they’re far slower than a tight farm loop.

A Hollow is worth 1, a boss 4, and a player kill a huge 10 — which is exactly why a stacked server is the fastest route. You can’t farm the same player twice, though, so truly blitzing it means seven different friends feeding you kills in one server. Some Hollows also pay out more; the Giant Dragonfly is worth 5 on its own.

Realistically, you’ll be grinding mobs. The clean loop: kill the three Hollows near the spawn area, rotate to the closest scorpion spawn, then swing back and repeat until you hit 70. Scorpions hit harder and take longer, so lean on your party for those and prioritize staying alive over raw speed. Weaker mobs like lizards and centipedes are the bread and butter, since every Hollow — whatever the type — is still worth a point.

Filling all four Hollow trait slots

You cannot convert to Arrancar with an empty trait slot, so you need all four filled first. Here’s the detail that ties the whole route together: Vasto Lorde is what unlocks the fourth slot, which is exactly why you finish the climb before ripping the mask.

Traits drop randomly when you eat a Hollow after it dies, starting from around level 5, so they trickle in naturally while you farm points. The in-game traits with known stats break down like this:

In-game tier lists lean toward a handful of standouts — deadly claws, wings, and especially iron skin, which stacks melee defense and around 35% posture recovery that pays off hard in PvP. Since the game only checks that every slot is full, though, any four traits let you convert. Chase the strong ones, but don’t freeze your run waiting on a perfect set.

When to rip off your mask

You technically can rip your mask off as early as Menos — pressing L on PC removes it — but doing it there is a trap. Convert as Menos and you’re locked to three trait slots for good, because you skipped the Vasto Lorde slot unlock entirely.

The clean route is patience: reach Vasto Lorde, fill all four trait slots, then press L to remove the mask and become an Arrancar/Vastocar with your full kit intact.

Mistakes that stall your progress

• Mixing up the Menos gate (8 Hollows, 60 objects) with the Adjuchas goal (70 points, four traits).
