AT&T has revealed pricing changes for both of its unlimited data and voice plans this week to entice new customers this year. The plan on the cheaper end is the Unlimited Choice Enhanced Plan is seeing an increase in price by $5, while the more expensive Unlimited Plus Enhanced Plan was reduced by $10/month for a single line connection.
Earlier available for $60/month, the revised price of the Unlimited Choice Enhanced Plan is now $65/month. Even the consolidated price for the family connection of 4 lines is being increased. The price for 4 lines on the Unlimited Choice Enhanced Plan was $155/month, but will now cost you $160/month.
When it comes to speed restrictions, they are more prominent on the cheaper Unlimited Choice Enhanced Plan. Video streaming has been limited to 1.5MB/s, while the general internet usage speed has been limited to 3MB/s for data throttling. Unlike the Unlimited Plus Enhanced Plan, the video quality is restricted to 480p SD quality, and there is no way to upgrade it.
While the internet usage speeds have been upgraded from the previous limit of 3MB/s, AT&T says that the speed can be throttled during congestion periods. Unlike the more expensive plan, Unlimited Choice Enhanced Plan comes with no mobile hotspot usage allowance at all.
However, subscribers to the plan still get HBO free as an add-on to the AT&T pay-TV service or as a part of a free DirecTV account. Unlimited Choice Enhanced Plan users also get a $15 credit that can be used for AT&T’s premium DirecTV Now subscription service.
Comparing to AT&T other data-limited plans, the Unlimited Plus Enhanced Plan offers a handful of benefits. AT&T Mobile Share Flex Plan offers the following prices:
- 1GB – $25
- 5GB – $50
- 10GB – $75
- 20GB – $100
Apart from these charges, each smartphone user needs to pay an access charge of $20/month. After the data allowance is maxed out, the speed is reduced and capped at 128KB/s per user.
