AT&T users of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are obviously looking forward to news about the arrival of Android 9 Pie update, but this isn’t it. Rather, the carrier has an equally essential update rolling out for each of the two devices with the latest February 2019 security patches.
The standard Galaxy S8 is receiving software update G950USQS5CSB1 while the S8+ is receiving version G955USQS5CSB1. The update is based on Oreo 8.0 and weighs 136.7MB, which is pretty heavy for a mere security patch.
That said, it’s most likely that this update also brings plenty of bug fixes and performance optimizations to the 2-year-old phones in readiness for the arrival of the One UI based on Android Pie.
Users of the Galaxy S8 pair in Europe have already been treated to the Pie update, so it shouldn’t be long before the OS arrives in the U.S., probably before the end of this month.
