New AT&T Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge update brings advanced messaging and February 2019 patches

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Samsung might no longer be pushing major Android OS updates to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, but this doesn’t mean the company has forgotten about the 2016 duo.

These two remain some of the most popular gadgets the company ever released and it’s no wonder great care is still being directed their way more than three years down the line.

Users of either phone on AT&T have a new software update rolling out as of this writing. The Galaxy S7 update has version number R16NW.G930AUCS9CSB1 and weighs 53.9MB while the S7 Edge is receiving version G935AUCS9CSB1 and is equally light on resources.

Both devices security patch level is updated to February 1, 2019, which, by all means, isn’t the latest version available. The likes of Galaxy S8 and S8+ already received updated to March 2019 security patch level, which is obvious considering they are a year newer than the S7 duo.

Besides the new security patch, S7 and S7 Edge users also get Advanced Messaging support alongside the usual bug fixes and system-wide performance optimizations.

The rollout commenced a couple of days ago and it usually takes time before all units receive the OTA download notification, so be patient.
