The AT&T Galaxy S5 packs a hardware capable enough to run the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, but that would hardly make any difference to AT&T’s Android 6.0 release schedule.
The AT&T S5 will get the Marshmallow update for sure, but don’t expect it to arrive any day before Q2 2016. Because AT&T has other premium devices from 2015 to address Marshmallow update to, before the S5, which launched in 2014.
Samsung should submit the Galaxy S5 Marshmallow update to AT&T by the end of 2015 or early in 2016, but AT&T might hold the update for another 3-6 months for the so-called “testing” of the Android 6.0 based firmware for the device.
As for the international variant of Galaxy S5, well, it might receive the Android 6.0 update early in 2016. Or maybe by the end 2015.
Both Samsung and AT&T has a long list of premium devices to go through (Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Note 5, Note 4 and Note Edge) before rolling out the Marshmallow update to Galaxy S5.
