The Asus ZenFone 2 has been creating a buzz in the smartphone arena across the globe, but the device did not make it to the West for so long. Now, it seems like the fans of the device in U.S. and Canada can get their hands on one soon.

Asus has sent out invites for an event to be hosted in New York City on May 18. At this event, the Taiwan based firm will be launching the ZenFone 2 variants, but it is not sure on which variants will be released in the market.

To remind you of the specifications, the Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML boasts of a 5.5 inch display with a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The device is equipped with a 64 bit quad core 2.3 GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor that is teamed up with a PowerVR G6430 graphics unit and 2 GB or 4 GB of RAM.

The device comes with 32 GB and 64 GB of native storage space that can be expanded further by another 64 GB using a micro SD card. The imaging hardware comprises of a 13 MP main snapper and a 5 MP front facer. A 3,000 mAh battery powers the device running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The other variant of ZenFone 2 with the model number ZE550ML has a 5.5 inch HD display with HD 720×1280 pixel resolution employs 2 GB of RAM. The other specifications are similar to the ones in the above mentioned variant.

The last version of the device is the Zenfone 2 ZE500CL with a 5 inch HD 720p displat and a dual core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor supplemented by 2 GB of RAM. It has 16 GB of inbuilt memory capacity and 64 GB of expandable storage support.

The other aspects of the device include an 8 MP rear facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 2 MP front facing camera. The Android 5.0 Lollipop based smartphone is powered by a 2,500 mAh battery.

As of now, there is no detail on the pricing of the ZenFone 2 smartphones in the US market, and we can get to know the same during its launch on May 18.
