Asus Zenfone 2 Laser receives an OTA update with February security patch and bug fixes

Following the Zenfone 3 Deluxe Nougat Update ASUS has released an OTA update for the Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE500KL) consisting of security patches for the month of February and various other bug fixes.

The Asus ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KL) is powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor and comes with 2GB of RAM. The phone packs 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. In the camera segment, the ZenFone 2 Laser flaunts a 13MP primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The device came with Android Lollipop out of the box and was further updated to Marshmallow and is powered by a 2400mAh non-removable battery.

Whether the update will target other variants of the Zenfone 2 Laser is not known at this point but with ZTE’s track record, we can at least expect timely security updates.

The changelog for the current update is provided below:

  • Fix audio jack malfunction issue, with plastic audio plug, it will be reconized as a real audio plugin.
  • Google security patch update.

If you fail to receive the update via OTA method, go to Settings > About > System Update to manually update your device. Also ensure that the update is downloaded via a Wi-Fi connection and the battery is sufficiently charged to reduce any chance of running into an error.
