Asus Transformer Pad TF300T Release Confirmed for April 22

April 22nd will see Asus release another Transformer tablet in the US. The Asus Transformer Pad TF300T is the latest tablet to come out of Asus’ stable, and like the Transformer Prime, will be flaunting a quad-core Tegra 3 chipset inside. However, the 10.1 1280×800 display is a non-Super IPS LCD and the Pad is a tad thicker than the Prime. 4G LTE connectivity will also be possible with the TF300T. The back of the device will have an 8 MP camera.

According to Asus, official pricing will be announced on April 22 when the tablet ships. However, online retailers like BJ’s and Office Depot have listed a $399 price for pre-orders of the 32 GB Wi-Fi-only version. French online retailer Tablette Store also mentions a pre-order price of €500, again for the 32 GB Wi-Fi-only model, but as only the US release date has been announced, this one doesn’t have a release date mentioned with it.

The Pad TF300T will be running on Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 like the Prime, and will come with support for the Asus’ keyboard dock, which turns the Pad into almost a full-fledged laptop. The dock will also extend the 10 hour battery life of the Pad by an extra 5 hours thanks to the additional battery in the dock.

Looking at the specs of the Transformer Pad TF300T, it looks to be a more affordable mid-to-high end quad-core tablet. It seems consumers will soon have a chance to choose from a lot of Android tablets in the market, which hopefully will go down in price as competition ramps up between manufacturers. Either way, it’s a win-win situation for the consumer.
