Dennis Woodwork, who was the CEO of Motorola when the company was working on the Nexus 6, revealed in a talk with The Telegraph that our beloved 6-incher of stock-Lollipop-goodness was supposed to feature a fingerprint sensor at the back, where lies the cute dimple of a Motorola Logo. (Learn from that Samsung!) And we like you, M. Only because of Apple buying “the best supplier” left Google and Motorola to choose from second best, which they obviously didn’t do.
This is what current Dropbox COO said exactly about the fingerprint sensor: “The secret behind that is that it was supposed to be fingerprint recognition, and Apple bought the best supplier.”
About the second best supplier of fingerprint sensor, he said: “So the second best supplier was the only one available to everyone else in the industry and they weren’t there yet.”
Literally, Nexus 6 would have been more appealing sporting a fingerprint sensor at its large back, then without, for us at least (what do you think?), even though Dennis Woodwork goes on to saying: “wouldn’t have made that big a difference”.
