Android P already under works?

Android Oreo 8.0 is fresh out of the oven. Google first introduced Android Oreo a few months back. Until last week when Oreo was announced, Google released four developer preview versions of Android Oreo.

Now a week later, looks like Google has started working on Android P (9.0). Either Google has decided to skip Android 8.1 or they have already completed all the work regarding Android 8.1.

Why do we say that? Well, people at XDA developers have found new tags related to Android P in the AOSP. According to them, there has been a change in the code where Platform version code name and platform version are now replaced by Android P. Even the platform version is PPR1 compared to OPR1 for Android O.

Further, another edit in the code suggests that a file has been titled “master is P only, removing old values”. Whether Google has started working on Android P or not we hope it comes with really cool features.

Meanwhile, Android 8.0 Oreo brings features such as picture-in-picture (PIP) mode, Notifications Visual Cleanup, Notification Badges, Always-On Display Updates, Instant Apps, and Autofill for apps.
