Thanks to the Android fragmentation, we are yet to see Android Nougat on the majority of the Android devices. The latest stats released by Google reveal that Nougat is yet to hit 10% distribution share.
Unfortunately, the Nougat Operating system is still on 9.5% distribution share, with 8.9% on its API 24 (7.0) and 0.6% on API 25 (7.1), which is really awful and unfortunate, considering how cool Nougat is or for that matter, Android is.
Interestingly, it is the Android Marshmallow 6.0, which is currently the most popular Android version with a distribution share of 31.2%. Even Lollipop is slightly behind Marshmallow with a distribution share of 30.8%.
Looking at the stats, it looks like by 2018 Nougat will have surpassed Android Marshmallow, however, by then Google would have already released its latest operating system Android O (8.0) scheduled to release in Q3 2017.

Sadly, yesterday, even Apple took a dig at Android distribution share at its Apple’s annual developer conference by comparing the installed base share of their last year’s operating systems – iOS 10 for Apple and Nougat for Android.
