CyanogenMod is the most popular custom ROM for Android devices, and is available for a wide range of devices. With each Android update, a new CyanogenMod ROM is released and for the Android Nougat 7.0 update, CyanogenMod 14 a.k.a CM14 will be released.
Since CyanogenMod is based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project), it’s built only after AOSP sources are released by Google for any newer version. And it generally takes 30-45 days for CyanogenMod to build the new update based on AOSP sources Google releases.
Google has released the final developer preview of Android Nougat, and with that also announced the release date for Android Nougat to be end of summer 2016. You can calculate that to either end of August 2016 or mid-September 2016.
Once Android Nougat is officially announced, Google will release the AOSP sources for Android 7.0 within a few days and then will begin the development for CM14 and other similar AOSP based custom ROMs like Paranoid Android, SlimROM, etc.
CyanogenMod 14 a.k.a CM14 Release Date
Although CyanogenMod team is generally quick at releasing latest CM version once Google releases the AOSP sources, but based on our close watch on the team’s progress on releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow based CM13 ROM, it took the CM team almost 30 days to release CM13 from the date Google releases AOSP sources for Marshmallow.
So based on our last year’s study, we expect CM14 to release at-least 30 days of Android Nougat’s sources being released by Google.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a confirmed date on Android Nougat’s release date by Google other than the info that it’ll be released by the end of Summer 2016. So guessing the exact release date for CM14 isn’t possible for us yet. But based on our study, we can give you an expected release date for CM14.
Expected CyanogenMod 14 (CM14) Release Date: 10th-20th October 2016.
We’ll be sure to update this page as soon as we have more info on CM14 release date. Stay tuned..
