After a long wait for Android Pie, the Moto G6 Play users at Sprint can finally get the taste of the latest stable version of Android right now.
The wait for Pie got only painful for the Sprint users when Motorola first rolled out the update for unlocked users in the third week of April, followed it up for the US Cellular variant around mid-May and then rolled out second Pie update for the unlocked variant in the last week of May again. And that’s even after the fact that Motorola first released Android Pie in Europe well by mid-February.
Motorola today announced the Android 9 Pie update for Sprint Motorola G6 Play and also revealed that the update carries security patch for the month of April 2019, so there goes your hopes for the latest security patch.
Anyhoo, if you are at Sprint and rock one of the best budget phones of its time in Moto G6 Play, check for an update now. Hit up Settings > System updates > Download and Install. Tap the Restart button once the update has been installed.
As the rollout is staged, it may take a while before the update becomes available to all the users.
