Like other Sammy devices updated in the recent past, the Galaxy J7 Prime, which is also known as Galaxy On7 Prime in other markets, is being updated to Android 8.1 Oreo. The update is coming in over the air and besides installing a new OS, it also brings along an updated Android security patch for the month of August 2018.

So far, the update has been spotted in multiple markets including Europe, Asia, UAE, South America, and Africa, which are actually the regions where the Galaxy J7 Prime is mostly sold. Since the update is airborne and is rolling out based on regions, it’s possible that it has yet to arrive on your device besides having started rolling out several weeks ago.

Here is a summary of the models that have received an update to Oreo 8.1, the firmware version and the release date.

Model No. Oreo 8.1 firmware version Release date
SM-G610F G610FXXU1CRI4 04 October 2018
SM-G610FD G610FDDU1CRI4 30 September 2018
SM-G610M G610MUBU3CRI5 10 October 2018

Of course, some of these models have already received newer updates with the latest Android security patches based on the new Oreo 8.1 OS.
