Last week, LG Electronics announced that it will begin rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to the LG G6 on April 30th and it’s truly happening. The handset is now receiving the OS in Korea, which also bumps up the custom skin to version 6.0.
LG is rolling out Oreo to the G6 over the air, but since the update is limited to the Korean market, there isn’t much you can do about it if you are in other regions. Still, we don’t expect the company to take ages before it begins the global rollout of the OS, but when exactly remains unknown to us.
With the update to Android Oreo, LG G6 users will receive features such as picture in picture mode, adaptive icons, Autofill API, notification channels, and more.
LG is also expected to follow the G6 Oreo release with updates for the 2016 pair of LG G5 and LG V20. Unfortunately, we don’t have the exact dates for this, but it should happen within this Q2 2018.
