Asus is definitely working hard on its reputation for being one of the first (other than Google, of course) to send out updates, be it major firmware upgrades, or minor incremental updates to existing versions of the OS. And based on what we have been seeing over the past year or so, it is definitely working for Asus, and for its customers.
Asus has now announced an incremental update for the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T. Considering that the Infinity just received the original Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update a couple of weeks ago after a brief delay, Asus has been really quick to make up for that by releasing the next update so soon. While the new update does not bump up the Infinity to Android 4.1.2, it does change the software version from V10.4.4.16 to V10.4.4.18, while still retaining the Android 4.1.1 version.
While the update does bring several performance improvements and bug fixes, Here’s a quick rundown of the major issues that have been addressed:
- Missing Google Bookmark sync function has been added to the Default Android Browser.
- WiFi connectivity issues with certain 802.1x access points fixed
- QWERTY keyboard issues with random word deletion in browser input field fixed
- Fixed force close issues with Facebook when switching to the front camera
You can check for and apply the new OTA update by going to Settings > About tablet > System Firmware Update. Go ahead and update your Transformer Infinity Pad and let us know if you face any issues updating.
