Agreed, that was pretty quick PR from Asus to let the already-much-happy users of their 10.1 inch Eee Pad Transformer android tablet know that Android v3.2 is already in tests in their labs and that an official update would come soon. The Android 3.2 is the latest Andorid OS version and some WiFi only Motorola Xoom in US received it yesterday via an OTA update. Google is yet to announce the Android 3.2 (Honeycomb), which is mainly known for a new feature called App Zooming and support for SD Cards.
The ASUS team announced their plan on their Twitter account only moments ago — 1 hr or so. But what’s more to our liking is the fact that Asus is taking the Android OS updates pretty seriously which is a very good endeavor because OS updates are something that have caused a lot of concerns in the android world. We hope Samsung’s software team is working on the Android 3.2 update, too.
Asus Eee Pad Transformer has already become the most successful android tablet and of course the most known non-apple tablet too. And it’s got its title for all the right reasons — it’s faster and smoother than Xoom, looks different from other bunch of android tablets thanks to allotment of more space upfront and costs $100 less from Xoom and other tablets while the specs are almost same — the NVidia dual-core Tegra 2 processor, Wi-Fi, 3G, Android 3.0, etc.
Now, our only hope is that Asus is able to pull up a good build outta Android 3.2 and is able to update its Eee Pad transformers soon. If that happens, there is more reason to be more interested in Asus’ next generation android tablets with rumored specs of NVidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor and Intel chips, right?
