VV Ultimatum 1.0 Update Guide: All Changes, Buffs, and Nerfs Explained

VV: Ultimatum just dropped a big community-requested update that makes rerolls and build resets far easier to farm, adds fast travel and reusable missions, eases the Shikai and Resurrection boss fights, and introduces a new Senbon Zakura katana variant.

🔑 keyThis is strictly a quality-of-life and balance patch, not a story or content expansion. The developers shipped it in direct response to player complaints about tedious progression loops and unforgiving gating fights. The headline draws are sweeping economy buffs that make farming rerolls and build resets dramatically cheaper, fast travel between spawn points, and heavily nerfed Shikai and Resurrection boss encounters.

Quality-of-life improvements in the update

The bulk of this patch is dedicated to removing the friction from everyday gameplay. Fast travel between spawn points is easily the standout change, eliminating the need to manually run across the map every time you need to turn in a quest or reach a new farming spot. Missions have also been streamlined; you can now reuse a mission immediately after completing it instead of backtracking to the original quest giver to queue it up again.

Bankai received two massive conveniences. The sealing requirement for the bank remote was removed, letting you access your storage freely, and bank slots themselves are now cheaper to purchase. Boss retries are significantly less tedious because you now respawn directly in front of the boss NPC after dying, rather than having to trek back to the arena. Boss highlights for Resurrection fights were made more visible, and an on-screen tip now appears to tell you exactly when you can engage in race progression.

The one thing the update did not touch is the 5-second spawn animation. Players still report being locked in place for a few seconds upon respawning, which remains a minor but persistent annoyance when trying to get right back into a boss fight.

Economy and progression buffs

Change Before After
Inventory limit level 10 20
Bankai cost 250 tokens 150 tokens
Noob server PvP damage debuff 70 50

The economy changes are the core of why grinders are hyped about this patch. Reroll rates from standard chests and mission chests were buffed, with build reset rates from chests seeing an especially massive increase. Build resets and kill refunds had their costs slashed, making it far more viable to experiment with new meta builds without sinking hours into farming. Early-game EXP was increased to smooth out the leveling curve, gauntlet competition rewards were buffed, and the overall inventory limit was raised to give players much-needed breathing room.

Per the update log, the concrete before-and-after numbers for these changes are:

⚠️ watch outNote that these exact figures are auto-transcribed from a creator reading the patch log aloud, so they should be treated as approximate until officially confirmed.

Boss fights made easier for Shikai and Resurrection

Progression-gating fights are now noticeably more forgiving. The Shikai fight phase 2 stats were nerfed, and the notoriously punishing guillotine drop was removed entirely. Players also receive an increased health pack during the Shikai encounter, and the true Shikai mini-game now provides a hint showing the general direction of your weapon. The Resurrection boss was similarly toned down, with nerfed Menos stats and a more visible boss highlight to track the enemy easily.

Combined with the new instant respawn directly in front of the boss NPC, retrying these encounters is seamless. Veteran players noted these fights were already manageable with practice, but these changes drastically lower the wall for newer players struggling with race progression.

Combat and PvP balance changes

The combat system saw a dense round of tweaks. You can now buffer your block input while stunned by holding the block button, though doing so prevents you from parrying the incoming attack. Basic M1 attacks received adjustments: M1s no longer apply knockback to guard-broken opponents, and the Senbon Zakura M1 now stuns opponents on the first few hits while dealing slightly increased damage per tick.

Faction dynamics shifted slightly, as players can once again grip faction teammates. In the noob servers, the PvP damage debuff was reduced, and the automatic noob server threshold was raised at the start, giving new players a longer grace period. Knockback and guard-break rules were refined across the board, notably removing knockback on block for characters in the Arctic.

Weapon synergy saw a major upgrade with Los Lobos. Using Los Lobos moves with Hakura will now temporarily quick-draw the weapon, making the combination finally usable. Additionally, the Undying Soul mechanic now grants health packs to the player who dealt the most damage, rather than being scattered arbitrarily.

New Senbon Zakura katana variant

The standout piece of new content is the Senbon Zakura katana variant. The katana features model-dependent visual effects, with the flower katana behaving mechanically as a short sword. While no hard stat data was provided in the update log, early players were so impressed by the variant’s look and feel that it immediately became a highly desired cosmetic and functional drop.

Free reroll code and where to redeem it

The update log references a code worth 35 rerolls for players to redeem. However, the actual redeemable code string was not stated in the initial broadcast. Players will need to check the official VV: Ultimatum Discord server or the official update post to grab the exact text string and redeem it in-game.

QUICK WIN

To save time on boss retries, die intentionally once to trigger the new instant respawn right in front of the boss NPC, completely skipping the long run back from the spawn point.
