Subnautica 2 continues to hide some of its most interesting exploration content behind environmental puzzles, and the Camp One door puzzle is one of the earliest examples many players encounter. While the solution itself is fairly straightforward once you know where to go, the underwater layout can make it easy to miss the required interaction point. If you keep circling the sealed entrance without progress, this guide walks you through the entire Camp One puzzle from start to finish.

Where to find Camp One in Subnautica 2
Camp One sits approximately 270 meters north-northeast from your starting Lifepod. As you approach the area, the easiest landmark to spot is the set of large industrial tube structures stretching across the seabed.

The area looks partially abandoned, with damaged structures and connected corridors scattered around the site. Many players initially head straight for the sealed door itself, but the actual trigger mechanism is hidden slightly away from the main entrance.
If you are having trouble spotting the correct location, focus on finding the largest tube network on the left side of the camp.
How to unlock the Camp One door puzzle
Step 1
Head toward Camp One from the Lifepod using the north-northeast direction. Once you arrive, look for the large tube structures positioned outside the main facility.

These tubes are the real starting point of the puzzle.
Step 2
Swim to the left-side tube entrance. There are multiple connected sections here, but only one side contains the required interaction.

Enter the tube carefully and continue forward until you spot a red button mounted inside the structure.

The button can blend into the environment because of the dim lighting and industrial textures, so scan the walls carefully if you miss it on your first pass.
Step 3
Interact with the red button to activate the mechanism.
Once pressed, the game silently updates the puzzle state. There is very little direct feedback besides environmental changes nearby, which is why many players think nothing happened after pressing it.

The important part is that the underwater interior route is now accessible.
Step 4
Leave the tube structures and descend toward the seabed underneath Camp One.

You are now looking for the interior entrance hidden below the main structure. Instead of trying to enter through the locked front section, swim underneath the camp and search along the lower walls.
The entrance is partially concealed by terrain and wreckage, making it easy to overlook during nighttime or poor visibility conditions.

Step 5
Enter the underwater interior section.
Inside, you will finally reach the previously inaccessible Camp One area where you can find Tuba along with additional environmental storytelling and exploration details tied to the location.

Why players get stuck at Camp One
The biggest issue with the Camp One puzzle is that the game separates the trigger mechanism from the actual entrance. Most players naturally focus on the locked door itself instead of exploring the surrounding tubes.
Another common problem is visibility. Depending on the time of day and water conditions, the underwater entrance can be surprisingly difficult to spot from a distance.

The puzzle also provides very little direct guidance after pressing the red button, which makes players assume they missed another step.
Best equipment to bring before attempting the puzzle
Although Camp One is considered an early-game puzzle, having a few upgrades makes the process much easier.
| Recommended Item | Why It Helps |
|---|---|
| Seaglide | Faster navigation around structures |
| Oxygen Tank Upgrade | More exploration time underwater |
| Flashlight | Better visibility inside tubes |
| Scanner | Useful for nearby fragments and objects |
The Camp One puzzle in Subnautica 2 is less about difficulty and more about observation. The hidden button inside the tube structures is the key interaction many players miss, while the underwater entrance placement adds another layer of confusion. Once both pieces click together, the entire area opens up quickly and leads directly to Tuba and the interior section of the facility.
