What to know
- Instagram now lets users reset their content recommendations.
- The reset affects Explore, Reels, and Feed sections.
- Users can start fresh with new content based on future interactions.
Instagram now offers users a way to reset their content recommendations when they feel their feed needs a complete refresh. The feature clears previous recommendation data across Explore, Reels, and main Feed sections.
After using the reset option, Instagram starts showing content based only on new interactions. Users can also review and unfollow accounts that no longer match their interests.
Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s head, says users should use this feature sparingly, like when their feed feels completely misaligned with their interests. The feed might appear less personalized initially but will improve as users engage with new content.
The feature primarily focuses on teen users but will be available to everyone globally. It adds to Instagram’s existing tools that help users control their content experience.
Users can still use other features like marking content as “Interested” or “Not Interested” and using “Hidden Words” to filter unwanted content with specific phrases.
The reset feature shows Instagram’s commitment to giving users more control over their social media experience, especially focusing on younger users’ safety and engagement.
