ZTE unveiled its Grand S3 at MWC yesterday with a unique Eyeprint ID feature. This allows a Grand S3 user to have a password free method to unlock their device. The phone’s Eyeprint ID feature on the front camera can scan veins in your eye and unlock the phone. This is one of the most secure option we’ve seen to privacy-guard a smartphone.

As every individual have his/her own pattern of veins in the eye, the front cam of the phone captures this. Also, this method is much safer than the fingerprint scanner or sensor as it requires scanning both the eyes.

EyeVerify is a highly precise, biometric technology for smartphones which ensures secure, private and convenient authentication. The company also said that it will expand its usage of the Eyeprint ID in more models in the future. Currently, the ZTE Grand S3 is available in China for approx. $478 USD.

The smartphone sports a 5.5 inch full HD display, is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, packs 3GB of RAM and runs on Android 4.4. Also, the device includes 16GB of internal storage (expandable vai microSD card slot) and is backed by a 3100mAh battery. The Xperia Grand S3 has a 16MP camera at the back and an 8MP camera at the front. However, there is no news on the availability of the device in other regions yet.
