Since quite sometime before the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, it was claimed that the TouchWiz UI on these models will be lightweight without much bloatware.
Usually, Samsung offerings will be pre-installed with several Samsung applications. Now, these apps are downloadable based on the users’ preferences. This way, users can keep only those applications that are useful to them in their device.
Of course, the Galaxy S6 and its curved display variant are preloaded with some applications, but a majority of these are Google apps and only some are from Samsung. There are Microsoft apps as well preinstalled in these new smartphones. Interestingly, users of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge can decide which pre-installed apps they like to have on their device and delete the rest.
The screenshots above show how the Microsoft apps such as Skype, OneDrive and OneNote and the Samsung exclusive apps such as S Health and S Voice can be removed from the new Samsung smartphones. The preinstalled Google applications include Gmail, Play Music, Google +, Play Games, Play Movies & TV, Google Drive and more.
Notably, those pre-installed applications that have been removed can again be installed when there is a requirement. The Samsung exclusive apps can be downloaded on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge via the Galaxy Apps marketplace.
