Update [August 10, 2018]: Xiaomi has suspended the MIUI 10 update to version 8.8.9 due to major bugs. Apparently, users have reported issues to do with Dual Apps, among them force-closing messages, app constantly reloading, and black screen appears for Dual Apps. Xiaomi says the developer team is working on a fix, so the update should resume shortly.

Original post:

Last week, Xiaomi rolled out a MIUI 10 update that brought the global ROM version to 8.8.2 and with it there came lots of performance optimizations and bug fixes. Well, the latest update to version 8.8.9 puts even more emphasis on bug fixes and optimizations as the ROM closes in on a stable version.

The MIUI 10 beta has been around since June 2018 and given that Xiaomi promised a stable upgrade by September 2018, we only have a few weeks between now and then. If anything, the latest update to ROM 8.8.9 might as well be among the last couple or so updates the MIUI 10 beta gets before the stable version is released.

To be more precise, Xiaomi says the MIUI 10 8.8.9 update brings fixes for issues with notifications sound in dual WhatsApp, notification font, as well as cases where WhatsApp and Telegram show double notifications when, in fact, there’s only one message. Those in Russia have also reported that the security of devices stops working when charging, something the latest update is here to address.

The update also addresses issues with the music player in Android Oreo, some apps are missing after updating the Redmi 3S, Bluetooth when connected in Spanish language, blank toggles appear in the notification shade, and also installs the latest Android security patch for the month of July 2018.

So far, more than 20 Xiaomi phones have access to MIUI 10 beta and while we still don’t have access to the download links, they should be up very soon. The OTA update is also rolling out as of this writing, but it may take a couple of days before it arrives on all devices.

Those using Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S have an invitation to try MIUI 10 based on the latest Android Pie, but this isn’t the only Xiaomi phone that will be receiving the update to Pie. To get to know if your device will be among the lucky ones, check out the link below.
