So, the mystery handset Xiaomi has been teasing over the last weekend turns out to be a Special Edition variant of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 which was launched last year.
Yes, you read that right. The Chinese company has launched the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Special Edition today. Now, looking at the smartphone’s moniker, one might wonder what’s so special about the device.
Well, nothing. It’s the same Mi Note 2 we all know save for the change in onboard storage space of 6GB RAM variant which is now 64GB instead of the 128GB. The 6GB RAM + 128GB variant is still available for purchase, though.

In case you need a refresher, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 features a 5.7-inch dual-curved AMOLED display. The same Snapdragon 821 chipset powers the device.
The imaging department is taken care of by a 22.5MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing shooter. The entire package is backed by a massive 4,070mAh battery. The smartphone also offers support for Quick Charge 3.0.
The Special Edition handset is priced at CNY 2899 ($426) and is currently available with a CNY 300 discount which brings the effective price down to CNY 2599 ($382).
