Earlier this month, Xiaomi was looking for beta testers to test out Android 8.0 Oreo on the Xiaomi Mi A1. It seems like they’ve got all the testers they need, and are now pushing the first Oreo beta update for the device.

If you were selected for the beta program, then you should now see a notification for the Oreo beta software update. The update weighs more than 1GB in size, so make sure your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network before downloading. Also, we recommend that your device has more than 50 percent charge before you install the update.

Xiaomi Oreo update release date

The Mi Ai is part of the Android One program, so it is receiving a stock version of Oreo. Apart from all the goodies present in the stock Oreo update, early users are reporting a faster fingerprint sensor and other system improvements.

As is the case with all beta updates, there will be issues and bugs in this one as well. Already, some users are facing issues with dual-SIM capability of the phone. We hope that Xiaomi sticks to their promise and delivers the final update before the end of this year. Other Xiaomi phones will be getting the MIUI 9 update.
