Xiaomi Mi 5c, which has gained considerable attention with its high-end specs and killer design, is likely to be launched soon at the Mobile World Congress in 2017. Its appearance on Chinese certification site 3C confirms the imminent release. But that is not what it has been making splashes in the news for.

Successor to Xiaomi Mi5s, the Mi 5c has hit the spotlight once again with the news that it will come with Xiaomi’s self-developed Pinecone processor onboard. The octa-core processor would be based in a 4×4 architecture on either Cortex-A53 cores or more powerful Cortex-A73 cores.
However, there’s a tweak here. The 3C listing mentions Mi 5c to be powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC, which brings us to believe that Xiaomi might release Mi 5c in two variants targeted for different regions.

As for rest of the specsheet based on 3C listing, it should come with 3GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage on-board.

Design-wise Mi 5c is reported to have a sleek metal finish and round 2.5 D edges with rear fingerprint scanner. It will sport a 5-inch FHD Screen with 1920×1080 pixels resolution. Flaunting a 12MP/8MP camera combo, most probably it will house 3500mAH battery.

The specsheet, as obvious is a killer, which gets a downer with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. And taking into consideration how late Xiaomi gets with updating its devices, we have very slim hopes of Mi 5c getting Nougat anytime soon.

Pricing has not been revealed, but long back we did spot the handset at Tmall, the Chinese online retailer, carrying a price tag of 9999 yuan. Don’t get kicked back, as this is just a tentative listing while we expect it to come at a much lower cost of 1500 yuan.

Xiaomi has also lined up another killer flagship this year, the Mi 6 which is expected to come in two variants – Youth edition and a Standard edition. You can read more about it here.
