Xiaomi confirms MIUI9 release isn’t scheduled for its May 25 event meant for Mi Max 2

Putting all speculations to rest, Xiaomi has come with an official announcement that the next version of its in-house launcher, MIUI 9, will not to be released this month. All eyes are set towards May 25th when Xiaomi plans to unveil its upcoming phablet Mi Max 2. And some surmises were being made about the launch of MIUI 9 as well alongside Mi Max 2. But clearly, that’s not gonna happen now.

Xiaomi made the announcement via its official Weibo handle. As per a past report, MIUI 9 would include several new features such as a Picture-in-Picture mode, Multi-screen mode, Screen recorder and more enhancing the UX.

Most of the high-end smartphones from Xiaomi that run Android 7.0 Nougat will also receive the MIUI 9 update. That includes the Mi 6, Mi 5c, Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Mi Pad 3, Redmi 4X, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4X, Mi 4c, Mi 4s, Mi 5, Mi 5s Plus, Mi MAX.

Meanwhile, early this month Xiaomi started releasing the MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM 7.5.4 update to its devices which brought a new feature called the Twilight Mode.
