Xiaomi which is famous for launching devices that get sold out before you can say “wow” has recently made an announcement that should offer some hope to those looking to buy a Xiaomi device in the future. The company which until now sold devices exclusively through flipkart has made a deal with two other retail giants namely Snapdeal and Amazon thus allowing customers to have the choice of purchasing Xiaomi products from there online along with the Airtel and The Mobile Store for offline purchases.

According to Manu Jain, Head of India Operations, Mi India “We are glad to give Mi fans more options to purchase Mi products. We are truly excited to be working with a variety of partners and expect these partnerships to be super successful.”

The partners seemed equally excited at the prospect of breaking into what until now has proved to be a quite lucrative territory although exclusive to flipkart and were quite eager to capitalize upon the opportunity. As Tony Navin, Senior Vice President, Electronics and Home, Snapdeal said “We are excited to partner with Xiaomi to launch its highly sought-after range of smartphones and accessories to our customers across the country, we believe that the extensive delivery network panning across tier 2 and 3 cities and towns of India will be of great value to Xiaomi in reaching out to a segment of consumers seeking true value in their devices.”

The declaration came in wake of the company’s 5th birthday which saw slashed prices and perks around the world including the Xiaomi Mi 4 available at a discounted price of Rs. 17,999 for the 16GB variant and Rs. 21,999 for the Mi 4 64GB. This was only one amongst several such offers which are being announced at the Mi Fan Festival being held on Wednesday. Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi Global described the event when he said “Mi Fan Festival is a huge online party that we throw every year to bring Mi fans together all around the world for a day of non-stop celebration, it’s our way of thanking our fans for their huge support. We’re super thrilled to have Mi India joining the party this year and look forward to spending many more birthdays together.”

Other offers at the fest included an open sale of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 across all online partners and offline at The Mobile Store as well and news that the Mi Pad — which ran out of stock — will soon be made available again. Similarly, the Mi In-Ear Headphones is now being made available via all three online partners and the 5400 Power Bank via both the offline stores.

Well, between Xiaomi’s birthday bash offers and increased availablity, we are sure that the company can look forward to a great 6th year ahead.
