What to know

  • X is testing its very own video conferencing tool.
  • Tweets by X employees show some features, such as being able to create instant meetings or schedule them for later, as well as the need to input unique codes to join a conference.
  • Though Elon Musk has all but confirmed the feature, there’s no real release date for it yet.

Under the leadership of Elon Musk, X (formerly Twitter) has been looking to branch out as much as possible. A recent set of tweets now indicate that the platform is testing a video conferencing tool, and wants to take on several competitors in the industry the likes of which involved Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and, of course, Google Meet.

Chris Park, an X employee, had a team conference on X last week and posted about it. Elon Musk commented with a fire emoji – which is one way to confirm the feature.

Other X employees and app researches also showed how users on iOS will be able to create new meetings the way they can on other such tools. More tweets from company insiders tell us that conferences will have unique codes that users need to input before joining.

Currently, there’s no release date for the video conferencing tool. Stay tuned for more updates on the same.
