Yes, you heard it right. Your long dreamed feature of taking screenshots — of benchmarks, in-game scenarios, apps, etc — without obtaining the root access, will finally be true as and when Android 2.3.3 lands on your phone.

This is because of some changes in the way the SurfaceFlinger service handles what it captures from the framebuffer.

While Android 2.3 is yet to hit any phone other than the Nexus series android phones, both HTC and Motorola have confirmed that they are working tight on it — with HTC setting eyes on Q2 roll-out and Moto’s CEO Sanjay Jha targeting that his company will be the FIRST one to deliver it.
