HTC sure didn’t keep their promise of launching just a few Android smartphones to keep it simple and more focused, as similar to the One X+ that was recently launched as an upgrade to the One X, HTC has now launched the One S with 64GB storage and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box in Taiwan, instead of providing the update to the original One S first.

The increased internal storage, newer Android version along with HTC’s Sense 4+ UI, and the color white are the only things this new One S brings over the original, with other specs remaining the same – 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 4.3″ qHD Super AMOLED display, 1GB RAM, 8 megapixel camera, VGA front-facing camera, microSD slot, and a 1560 mAh battery.

The white One S has been priced at 17,900 Taiwan dollars, which is around $616 or €485. While it is a good deal considering the upgraded specs, I can’t help but think that HTC is again turning towards launching as many devices as possible like their South Korean competitor, probably in a bid to turn their flagging fortunes around.

Oh, and no word on whether the phone will be leaving the Taiwanese market, but we’ll be sure to let you know of any further developments in that matter.
