The OnePlus 6T is the latest flagship phone from OnePlus and as expected it is packed with amazing features starting from the camera, new teardrop notch style, and more bezel-less design. The device will see a slight increase in price compared to the predecessor.
Below, we look at what is new with the OnePlus 6T.
In-display fingerprint sensor
The OnePlus 6T is the first flagship ever released in the US featuring an in-display fingerprint sensor which is amazingly lightning fast. The sensor has been removed from the rear and will now live under the display. To use it, you just need to place your finger on the fingerprint icon on the screen and the sensor will authenticate you hence unlocking your phone.
The teardrop notch
The OnePlus 6 featured a notch and the 6T has not been left behind on that. However, this time around OnePlus adopted a smaller notch “teardrop” style for the 6T. No functions have changed regarding the notch but on the 6T it brings out a cleaner look and gives more screen real-estate for use by the user.
Nightscape and Studio lighting
The camera did not receive any tweaks in terms of hardware. Just like the OnePlus 6, the 6T features a dual-lens rear camera with 16-megapixels and 20-megapixels and a 20- megapixel front-facing camera.
Google came up with Night Sight feature in the Pixel 3 to improve low-light photography and it seems OnePlus has one ace up its sleeve too. With the OnePlus 6T, the company has come with a similar feature, and it’s dubbed as Nightscape. Using the Nightscape feature in the camera app, one can capture the low-light urban environments with improved clarity, less noise, more accurate color reproduction, and better dynamic range.
OnePlus worked with photographer Kevin Abosch to come up with the Studio Lighting feature which has been fine-tuned to recognize faces and adjust the lighting accordingly t0 simulate professional lighting. This is similar to iPhones Portrait Lighting.
OnePlus has signed a carrier deal, finally!
OnePlus has for the first time signed a carrier deal. T-Mobile customers will be able to buy the OnePlus 6T in-store and online on November 1, 2018. This will be the first time the phone will be available on a U.S. carrier. You will be able to buy the 6T form T-Mobile for more than half price for a period of over 24 months.
Are you an interested buyer? If so, pre-orders open up on November 1 with pricing set at $549 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage model. Along with that, you can get 8GB RAM + 128GB storage or 8GB RAM+256GB storage for $579 and $629, respectively.
The 6T will be sold through OnePlus’ website and for the first time in the U.S., it will also be offered directly through a wireless carrier – T-Mobile.
$300 discount offer (even on OnePlus One/2/X)
T-Mobile is offering $300 towards the 6T with the trade-in of any one of 33 phones. The figure provides a great opportunity especially for the older devices to get a good discount.
Though, what is remarkable here is that every OnePlus device from the part is also eligible for the offer — that is a good loyalty bonus, right? If you have a OnePlus One or OnePlus 2 or OnePlus X lying around, then it’s worth $300 now. All other devices in the list above are also eligible for the offer. $300 off on the devices like Nexus 6, OG Pixel and Pixel XL, and Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, isn’t a bad deal, either.
OnePlus is now on Verizon
Verizon compatibility is something that Americans interested in OnePlus’ phones have been asking about for a long time. The 6T has support for Verizon’s primary LTE band as well as VOLTE and Wi-Fi calling. According to OnePlus, the Verizon experience is just like any other carrier; insert a Verizon SIM card and you are good to go. It is good to note that 6T only works on Verizon’s LTE network and thus does not have CDMA support needed for Verizon’s older networks. This should not be a concern since LTE coverage by Verizon is nationwide.

Android 9 Pie with OxygenOS pre-installed
The 6T will feature Google’s latest Android version 9 (Pie) which carries the OxygenOS skin from OnePlus. As you may already know, the OxygenOS UI looks great and operates pretty fast, so you can expect great performance from the device without worrying about the device getting slow over a period of time, or unnecessary bloatware eating crucial internal storage. You will be able to take advantage of the new gesture-based navigation, adaptive battery support, and Smart Boost app-launching feature.

While the above stuff talks about what new and good about the OnePlus 6T, there is one feature that’s missing now that may upset a few users for sure.
3.5mm Headphone Jack is gone
The new 6T no longer features a headphone jack. This is a big turn down for many potential buyers who are die-hard fans of the jack. This will might definitely be a deal-breaker for these fans. Most people do not like the idea of using Bluetooth headsets that need constant charging while on the go. All in all, the jack is gone on this new flagship and that cannot be changed.
