Chinese mobile giant Vivo has always been an advocate for Android device that cost less and does more. A big player in growing markets such as India and regions such as South America, Vivo has not been shy of trying the new, as it showcased at MWC this year with the concept Vivo Apex.
Continuing its crusade of offering all-rounder devices with the latest features and a low price-point, the company seems to be on its way to release the Vivo Y71 smartphone soon enough. The device has already passed its screening process through TENAA, and here’s everything you need to know about it.
Vivo Y71 specs and features
- 720 x 1440 HD resolution (18:9 widescreen aspect ratio)
- GSM/CDMA support with VoLTE feature enabled.
- 5.99-inch TFT display screen
- Quad-core 1.4GHz processor
- 3 GB RAM capacity
- 32 GB onboard expandable storage (128GB and 256GB)
- Android 8.1 Oreo version
- CMOS camera sensor with 1080p Full-HD resolution support
- 3285mAh battery capacity
The new industry standard of offering a higher screen-to-body ratio is being picked up on the upcoming Vivo Y71 as well, as the specs sheet suggests that a 720p HD screen will come into play. Don’t expect the 5.99-inch display to break the visual barrier as it comes with an average TFT display, unlike the OLED panels we see on high-end smartphones.
Supporting the decent display will be a 1.4GHz processor, which will most likely be from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 series. The device will come with about 32GB of internal storage which will be expandable via a MicroSD card slot, and 3GB of RAM with an internal battery capacity of 3285mAh should offer a decent amount of screen-on time as well.
However, the biggest takeaway from the specs seems to be the software, which will be Android 8.1 running right out of the box. As for the camera, don’t expect a dual-camera setup on the back, with just a single CMOS sensor-powered shooter that will be able to record videos in Full-HD. There are also details of the fact that the Vivo Y71 will be available in Rose Gold variant.
March 30: First Vivo Y71 images leak out on TENAA
Our first sight of the Vivo Y71 came courtesy of a listing on TENAA and thanks to the same platform, we now have a series of images of the phone showing off what is a full-screen display, a thin body and a single-lens camera on the back, as you can see below.
Vivo Y71 price and release date
Since the device has just now been spotted on the TENAA certification website, the release should be expected soon enough. By an average estimate, you can expect the Vivo Y71 to officially launch most likely somewhere in April.
As for the price, it seems apparent from the specs sheet and features that the Vivo Y71 is going to be another mid-range device in the Android market. With the newer 18:9 aspect ratio screen and some decent hardware, the Y71 may be a direct competitor to devices like the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, which is available at the $200 price mark.
