Vivaldi Technologies has released version 7.4 of its browser for iOS devices, bringing several notable improvements to iPhone and iPad users. The update focuses on enhancing media consumption and tab management capabilities.

The most significant addition is background audio playback support. You can now continue listening to audio from websites even when switching to other apps or when your device is locked. This feature works with various audio sources including YouTube videos, podcasts, and music streaming services.

Vivaldi's CEO Jon von Tetzchner explained the reasoning behind this feature: "Many of our users consume audio content while browsing, and we wanted to make that experience seamless across their device usage."

Tab management has received substantial improvements in this update. The new two-level tab bar allows you to organize your browsing sessions more efficiently. You can now create tab stacks by dragging tabs on top of each other, making it easier to group related content.

The update also introduces a tab hibernation feature that helps reduce memory usage. Tabs that haven't been accessed for a specified period will automatically hibernate, preserving system resources while keeping your browsing session intact.

Privacy enhancements include improved tracking protection and more granular cookie controls. You can now set different privacy levels for different websites, giving you more control over your browsing data.

The user interface has become more customizable with this update. You can now adjust the position of the address bar, customize the start page, and choose from several new themes.
