Samsung hasn’t released many Galaxy Tab E slates, with late last year’s Galaxy Tab E 8.0 Refresh adding to the handful of models available since 2015.

Like Samsung phones that came out in late 2017, the Galaxy Tab E 8.0 Refresh is powered by Android Nougat out of the box. At its launch, which was rather secret, there was no promise of an update to Oreo, but Samsung has once again delivered by rolling out an update that installs this OS on the slate.

Besides installing Android Oreo, the new update, which carries software version T378VVRU3BRK1, also installs a new Android security patch for the month of November 2018.  The Oreo update brings along things like Notification Dots, Autofill, Picture-in-Picture, and Dual Messenger, among other stuff.

Since the update is airborne, it will take some time before all Galaxy Tab E 8.0 Refresh units on Verizon get the OTA download notification.

You can choose patience and wait for the notification to arrive, probably over the weekend or even next week, or you can decide to get a little adventurous and try forcing the update via Settings > About Device > Software updates and in the system updates, tap on Restart & install to finish the upgrade process, manually.
