The 2017 editions of Samsung Galaxy J3 and Galaxy J7 on Verizon Wireless are receiving new software updates that install the latest Android security patch available from Google.
To be more specific, the new updates are rolling out to Samsung Galaxy J3 Mission, Galaxy J3 Eclipse, Galaxy J7 V and Galaxy J7 Prepaid, all of which have been updated to April 2019 security patch level.
Verizon says the updates went live yesterday, so it should take a few days or even a week before all J3 and J7 units get the download notification.
Users of the J3 Mission should watch out for version J327VPPVRS3BSD1 while those using the J3 Eclipse will receive version J327VVRS3BSD1. For the J7 V, the update is arriving as version J727VVRS3BSD1 and for the Prepaid variant, the update has version J727VPPVRS3BSD1.
As noted, the OTA may take some time to arrive, but you can force the manual download via Settings > About device > Software updates.
