The Verizon LG G5 is receiving an update to Android 7.0 Nougat with build number VS98726B as we speak.
Knowing Verizon, you couldn’t expect to get root on LG G5 running on the latest Nougat update. Heck, the device didn’t had root even on the Marshmallow firmware either.
Rooting Verizon G5 on Android 7.0 wouldn’t be easier for the developers unless a truly magical exploit surfaces for the device.
That said, it doesn’t hurt to update your Verizon G5 to Nougat as far as rooting is concerned since the device never had root anyway even on the Android 6.0.1 builds.
We’ll be keeping a close watch on xda and other Android communities for any possible rooting solutions for the device.

If you have foxfi, do not update. FoxFi is blocked on Nougat.
