The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge may no longer be Samsung’s flagship phones of the day, but they still got something to offer, even for those who got either phone back in early 2016. To make sure they keep going, Samsung is rolling out an update that brings a new security patch to Verizon Wireless variants of the duo.

If you own a Galaxy S7, the update heading your way has software version G930VVRS4CRI1 while those using the S7 Edge can watch out for an update that installs software version G935VVRS4CRI1. Besides the August 2018 patches, the updates also bring an unnamed number of bug fixes alongside performance and system stability improvements to the S7 pair.

Both updates are airborne, meaning it may take several days before the OTA notifications arrive on either phone, so be patient. Alternatively, you can also try forcing the update by heading to the Settings menu and while in there, check for software updates manually.
