The Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is getting a new software update as we speak. The update is a minor one and includes bug fixes along with the latest Android security patch. The updated software version is N915VVRU2CPJ2 and is available over-the-air.
Like the recently released updates for the Verizon LG Optimus Zone 3 and G Pad 10.1 LTE, the new update for the Galaxy Note Edge doesn’t bring anything new to the table. It is still based on Android Marshmallow and there’s no sign of a Nougat update for the device. Right now, even a CM14 ROM isn’t available for the Note Edge, while its flat variant in Note 4 atleast has that. We hope, the developer community is able to create a CM14/CM14.1 for the Note Edge too, after all both Note 4 and Note Edge are pretty identical phones.
As always, we recommend that you’re connected a strong and stable WiFi network or Cellular network when downloading the update. Also make sure there is enough charge on the device. This being a minor update, it is small in size and the installation is done in 5-10 minutes.
The Galaxy Note Edge will not receive Android Nougat, therefore, these are the only types of updates one can expect now. Other carriers should follow suit and provide updates with the latest security patch soon.
