Verizon Wireless has discontinued the 32GB version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and is now offering a 16GB version of the same phone, for $50 with a 2 year contract, or $499 without any strings attached.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is almost nearing its first birthday, but still enjoys a great deal of fanfare among Android smartphone enthusiasts. For those who’ve been wanting to explore the Nexus world and take in the pure Google experience, this might be a good time for you jump in.

There is some great news for those of you don’t want to be tied down by a contract, and still find the $499 tag steep, too. Verizon is also offering a bargain price of $230 off contract, for pre-owned Galaxy Nexus phones. Plus you get a one-year warranty with it, which makes things better. If you experience any issues that are caused by a manufacturing defect within that year, Verizon will replace it with a comparable unit.

Would you be getting one?
