Valve’s official website has gone online about the information on its upcoming product a little early. Spotted by a @Wario64, Valve’s Product Page had a description of a new and mysterious VR headset which is most likely the Valve Index.

Upon first glance, you’ll notice two earphones dangling on the two sides. And these earphones are of the integrated open-back design, which means you can now be aware of your surroundings while being immersed in the VR content. The concept of open-back design is an interesting choice and it will be more interesting to see how it will interact with the experience of VR.

The website mentioned the inputs supported by the Valve Index: a DisplayPort 1.2 and a USB 3.0 The basic requirements mentions Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card or above. The box will come with power plugs and a power adapter.

The website is otherwise scarce of information, with some directing links being dead and product description been written in placeholder text. There no details about the Index’s major features, like the array of sensors of cameras.

The Verge reached out to Valve for further clarification about this product page and Valve confirmed the authenticity of the information on the website. They say that although the information is not comprehensive, it is accurate. They also confirmed that the ‘knuckle’ controllers will now be called ‘Valve Index’ controllers.

Valve has decided to announce the Index headset on May 1st with the pre-order opening the same day. The shipping date has been targeted on June 15.
