Vaio Phone A announced, specs include Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB RAM and 5.5-inch display

The name Vaio does ring a bell. Once Sony’s PC partner, it now stands on its own and is ready to give Sony a competition in the smartphone market. We say so as the company has announced a new phone today named Phone A.

Vaio Phone A features a 5.5-inch HD screen. Under the hood, it carries octa-core Snapdragon 617 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and 16 GB built-in storage which can be expanded upto 64GB via microSD card.

On the imaging front, it packs in 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie snapper. The Phone A runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS. To keep all these powered on there’s a 2800 mAh battery.

With mid-range specs, the Vaio Phone A is likely to remain Japan exclusive. At this point, its pricing and availability are not known. Notably, this isn’t the first Vaio phone to be released. The last phone from Vaio was released in February 2016 named Phone Biz which also carried mid-range specs akin to the just launched Phone A.
